The living room trail is a short fairly steep but moderately easy hike to a great viewpoint on red butte overlooking the salt lake valley. The trail offers a number of activity options and is best used from march until november. It took us about a little over an hour to leisurely maneuver up the trail and enjoy the natural scenic landscape. For most however the living room is sufficient and it s time to take a load off and look out over literally the entire valley.

The living room loop is a 2 8 mile moderately trafficked loop trail located near salt lake city utah that features beautiful wild flowers and is rated as moderate. It climbs over 1000 feet in less than a mile and a half 1 35 miles to the living room. Dogs are also able to use this trail. If you live in the salt lake valley the trailhead is close by.

This is a 4 2 mile loop hike with 2200 cumulative feet of elevation gain that takes about 2 4 hours to complete. Take exit 129 on i 80 for foothill drive. The living room trail was a blast. There are several chairs and couches complete with armrests and ottomans.

At the viewpoint you ll see furniture created by other hikers out of the large flat sandstone slabs. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash. My wife and i started out around 9 10am and easily made our way up to the fantastic view of salt lake city. However lots of people find this place because it s a cool place for the college kids to spend a weekend evening no parents.

If you live elsewhere take a little road trip for this hike it s well worth it.
